Automating Helpdesk (Trac Tickets)
Working with FTP sites in ruby
I routinely build packages for my Solaris server. While building vim I ran in to a recurring problem of how to automate downloading patches via FTP. Read on for an example in ruby.
Quick Deployment
The other day, when I was working on upgrading our in-house rbot at the office, I found it a good opportunity to convert one of our old Mongrelized application services to Lighttpd+FastCGI. It is a service that deals with images in a queue that come in with our HylaFAX server. The total migration took about 15 minutes. The gains in speed and efficiency were enormous.
Drivel Blog Client
Testing a new blog client. Vimperator (mozilla plugin to give VIM modes in the web browser) isn’t playing well with typo’s real-time preview in posts; plus I wanted to see if desktop blogging was better than I experienced before (BloGTK). Drivel seems more minimal (I like that).
Emash Git
Using git://rubyists.com/gits/emash will get the most current code. Github will only be used for major releases.
New blog up!
How bout that typo? Love the easy install, but wish it wouldn’t be so mongrel-centric. eM.A.S.H. was able to successfully deploy a vanilla Typo install, only change necessary was to the installer/rails-installer.yml file to get rid of the high port specification.
